As 'regen' farmers, our journey started in 2001 with a simple idea: to grow fresh, nutritious and delicious produce that was GMO and chem-free.
Due to our previous experiences in Africa, we decided to go 'beyond organics' into chem-free, GM-free, nutrient dense horticulture, following Allan Savory, Permaculture and BioDynamic principles
As 'regen' farmers, our journey started in 2001 with a simple idea: to grow fresh, nutritious and delicious produce that was GMO and chem-free.
Due to our previous experiences in Africa, we decided to go 'beyond organics' into chem-free, GM-free, nutrient dense horticulture, following Allan Savory, Permaculture and BioDynamic principles and practices.
So, we built a worm-farm, and commercially sold "Vermi-Gold" but few knew about the benefits of this natural, 'forever' fertilizer!
Being of French heritage, we decided on truffles and olives, and had great fun running Truffle Festivals in Trentham in 2010 and 2011.

In 2010, we started using a BRIX meter to monitor nutrient density, started selling them in our store, as well as advertising BRIX Readings and Ratings for our produce.
Customers told us to call it a "NutriMeter", for that is what it does! So, so we did!

We believe that "objectively measured" fresh, delicious and nutritious produce is better than pretty pictures and sweetness.
So started using the spectrometers :
- "SCiO" for produce in 2017, and
- "Agrocares" for soil in 2018. .
And, when the right technology came about in 2023, we built our first Nx prototype, and immediately saw the high correlations between BRIX and our Nx's NDI readings.

We support 'regen' and 'organic' farmers by providing them tools, like NutriMeters, and systems, like FindGoodFood.org.au (a NFP), to enable them to get better prices (we got 25% better) for superior produce from discerning and health conscious Consumers.

Our Philosophy
In 2001, we started "Truffleberry Farms' (truffles and olives), by going 'beyond organics' into nutrient dense (soil and produce), chem-free and GM-free horticulture.
My wife and son (horticulturist and agronomist) were the real farmers, I was just a semi-retired IT F&B supply chain optimization specialist, a CPA with degrees in Economics and in Marketing.
So I just focused on measuring / monitoring quality from soil to gut,
- Soil - Agrocares spectrometer,
- Fresh Produce - SCiO spectrometer, and
- Human Health (RNI / RDI) balancing - patented NutriScale.

Universal truth : One cannot manage, plan nor control anything, effectively or efficiently, without metrics. and IT makes this so easy!
So, given that change is the only constant in IT, we found Australia would be the best place to initially produce and test our NutriMeters,

Our "idyll Farm" Story
In our last 'regen' farming venture, we did free range eggs.
- So, we started with the soil, improving the quality and life in the soil, so chickens could eat half their feed as nature intended - from the bugs, roots, insects, bird droppings, etc.
- On the advice of Joel Salatin, who was in our area at the time, we moved the chicken runs behind the cattle as they were moved every few weeks .
- The result was they got half their feed naturally (as they had always done) and half from high quality grain.
- So, our BRIX measured 16-20, whereas other free range eggs measured 8-10, i.e. the egg white, not the yolk which requires a 50 -90 degrees of refraction BRIX meter.
- As chef's love to cook with good food for their own high standards and consistency, and as their customers loved delicious, nutritious breakfasts and eggs, we got 25% higher prices wholesale than retail prices!

Back in 2008, for my own health reasons, I built a fast (2-3 secs) and easy method of capturing and tracking my 'Recommended Nutritional Intake' (RNI ), as recommended by our National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) with data from Food Standards Australia & New Zealand (FSANZ), covering the 37 'essential' for human life nutrients. This was expanded to 51, but now, I understand, recued to 40 odd "strictly essential nutrients.
